Setting up sFTP in FileZilla
If you need to send us files an sFTP account will be set up for you. This account will point to a folder that is only for your information and no one else's. You can use any sFTP client to transfer the file(s) but we FileZilla on our computers as it is free and easy to use. If you are also using FileZilla here is how you set it up.
- Open the Site Manager
- Click New site
- Give the site a name such as BrightArrow
- Enter the connection information
- Protocol: defaults to FTP. This is not secure, change that to sFTP
- Host: enter the url given to you
- Logon Type: Normal
- User: enter the user given to you by support
- Password: enter the password given to you by support
- Background color: If you have many sftp connections this comes in handy so it's easy to tell them apart. Set this if you feel like it.
- You may want to have a local folder that you regularly use. If so you can set it up so that opening the sFTP connection always points to that folder.
- Default local directory: browse to the folder you want the sFTP connection to start in
- Default remote directory: leave as root, we do not let you see below your own directory anyways so you always start at the right spot
- Use synchronized browsing: This forces your computer file structure to mimic what is on our server. If you navigate into a subfolder on our server it will navigate to the same subfolder on your computer.
