Initializing the BrightArrow Plugins

This article assumes the plugins have been installed and sFTP connection has been established.

PowerSchool needs some information so that the plugins can behave properly. You should have received 3 pieces of information from us:

  1. sFTP credentials: username, password, server to connect to
  2. CID: a 4 digit number unique to your account
  3. Key

In previous steps you should have already used #1 to set up the sFTP connection. In this step we will use the CID and portalKey.

Steps for Schools who are not on a shared server:

  1. Change to District Office (PSU for NC Schools) in PowerSchool
  2. Navigate to System > BrightArrow Settings
  3. Check the top 2 boxes:
    1. Use URL Instead of server id as link
    2. Use UserDCID instead of LastFirst as link
    3. If you've purchased as an email only customer (sometimes called Report Emailing only) then check the box labeled Email Only as well
  4. Find the District row
  5. In the CID box enter the CID sent to you. This will be 4 digits such as 1234
  6. In the Key box enter the Key sent to you. This will be a mix of numbers and letters and have a pattern such as 1406090C-0924-240E-5A20-BE7EB24DDDC4
  7. Change Admin Functions from Disabled to Enabled
  8. Change Permission by Person from Disabled to Enabled
  9. Change Staff Contacts from Disabled to Edit My Custom Contacts
  10. Submit

After submitting you will notice the 2 checkboxes and the CID and Key boxes are no longer visible. Once this information is entered it's not to be changed and as such hides itself.

Other pieces including school level pieces can be done later, but since we are setting things up for the first time it's enough to only turn on the basics and only turn them on within District Office.

Video Demo for District Server Customers:

The following demonstrates how to enter the information for customers who are NOT on a shared server.
