To-Do Items for Attendance Responses

If your child's school has enabled the BrightArrow feature for you to submit attendance responses or other explanations the school requires to have on file for your student, you can submit those responses directly through the ParentHub app. There are two methods you can use to send your note to the school depending on whether you are responding to a message they already sent you or if you need to submit the note in advance of your child's absence. See below for instructions to assist with either method. 

All messages will populate in your Feeds tab as usual, but only the items that require your response will be shown under the ToDo tab. Such items include new Chat invitations, forms/surveys, meeting requests, attendance related messages, and any other item that the school may require your response for. 

Since the To-Do Items and responses feature is primarily used for attendance purposes, in this document we'll refer to the messages as if they are related to attendance. The same steps will apply even if your response is in regard to another topic. 

Note that this feature is intended for general/basic responses only. If you need to submit a doctor's note or other documentation you will need to send that to the school directly.

Sending a response to a message you already received

If you already received a message from the school in your ParentHub app, you can easily submit your response by following the steps below. There are two different places in the app where you can go to view the message and submit your response. 

Option #1
  1. Login to the ParentHub app
  2. Navigate to the Feeds tab to view your messages
  3. Tap on the message that you need to submit a note or excuse for
  4. Enter your explanation in the field provided
  5. Click Submit to send your response to the school
Option #2

If you receive a lot of messages from the school on any given day or you just want to make sure that you didn't miss an item that requires your response, you can navigate to the ToDo tab on your Feeds page to see only the messages that you need to submit a response for.

  1. Login to the ParentHub app
  2. Navigate to the Feeds tab to view your messages
  3. Tap the TODO tab
  4. Tap on the message that you need to submit a note or excuse for
  5. Enter your explanation in the field provided
  6. Click Submit to send your response to the school

Sending a message to the school in advance of your child's absence

If you know in advance that your child will be absent or tardy from school, you may want to send a note to the school in advance. You can submit the explanation ahead of time without waiting for the school to message you by following the steps below. 

  1. Login to the ParentHub app
  2. Navigate to the Feeds tab
  3. Tap the TODO tap in the upper right of the screen
  4. Tap Add Todo Item
  5. Add the information pertaining to your student using the drop-down fields. Enter your explanation in the text box and the dates your explanation pertains to. 
  6. At the bottom of the page, tap Submit to send your response to the school
