Students Settings

Student Settings Page

Beginning in Base Plugin 2 version 8.4.3 there is a page for individual student settings. Here you can edit the built-in student email field and also edit custom fields that come with our plugins.

  1. Email Address - This is the same as the student email page, it’s been added here for convenience only. Because it’s a separate process it does have its own Submit button separate from the rest of the fields.
  2. Student Cell Phone - These fields are custom fields from our plugins. They are already in the PowerQueries (PQ) so if you use them we won’t need to customize a PQ for you.
    1. U_BA_MsgFields.cellphone
    2. U_BA_MsgFields.cellphone_v - call this number
    3. U_BA_MsgFields.cellphone_t - text this number
  3. Parent Language - BrightArrow parent/guardian language field. Can be used as the language field for parent/guardians, ignored completely, or as an override for the normal language field.
    1. U_BA_MsgFields.messagingLanguage
    2. When using another 1:1 student field this field will not show and instead a message will show which field is being used (from settings)
    3. When using a contacts field for language (instead of a 1:1 field) this field will not show and instead a message stating that parent language is coming from a field in contacts will show in it's place.
    4. When using this field to override another a message will show after the field stating that this field is only to be filled in to override the other setting
      1. Blank means use the other field. Only fill this in when overriding that other field
      2. ex: Normal language field is a state field but parents don't want to be contacted in that language and can't change the state field due to state reporting rules. Use this to override the state field for messaging purposes for that family while allowing the normal state field language to be used for everyone else
    5. If none of the other scenarios apply then use this field as is
  4. Student Language - BrightArrow student language field for messages that go to the student directly. Use when you want to be able to contact a student in a language other than english. Can be used as the language field for the student, ignored completely, or as an override for the normal language field.
    1. U_BA_MsgFields.messagingLanguageStd
    5. If none of the other scenarios apply then use this field as is
  5. Exclude from single-day attendance PQs - By default a student is set to be included in attendance PowerQueries. Use this to exclude a student who you don’t want to be notified about the current day’s attendance.
    1. U_BA_MsgFields.exclude_single_day_att
  6. Exclude from multi-day attendance PQs - By default a student is set to be included in attendance PowerQueries. Use this to exclude a student who you don’t want to be notified about the multi-day attendance (attendance over time) such as 5-day absence notices.
    1. U_BA_MsgFields.exclude_multi_day_att
  7. Exclude from log PQs - By default a student is included in log PowerQueries. Log queries can be for sending suspension letters if you use logs for discipline or can be used for any other log type you want. If you never want a log-based message sent for a student you can exclude them here.
    1. U_BA_MsgFields.exclude_logs
  8. Exclude from missing assignments PQs - By default a student is included in missing assignments PowerQueries. In the event that there is a specific reason to exclude a student from getting those messages, you can exclude them here.
    1. U_BA_MsgFields.exclude_missing_assignments
  9. Exclude from Search by Store Code PQ - By default a student is included in the Search by Store Code PowerQuery which is used to send overall status updates on how a student is doing in a class. If a student should be excluded from all of those messages you can remove them from that query here.
    1. U_BA_MsgFields.exclude_src_by_sc
