Why does a user not show?

To get information out of PowerSchool there are queries written that get data from multiple tables and put it together. In order to get 1 record per user and in order to cover many options you may have there are subqueries that look up what schools the user is active in. The queries obey PowerSchool's business logic even if there are ways to falsify the data within PowerSchool

What is an active user?

An active user is a record that is active within the home school. The user does not have to have Sign in to PowerTeacher selected to be active but does have to have the security box for active checked for the school marked as Home School.

What is an inactive user?

A user who is not active in their home school is deemed not active.

Why does the home school need to be active?

The logic in the query follows the stated rules of PowerSchool from several years ago. Current versions of PowerSchool will allow for a home school to be deactivated for a user and keep the user active without giving an error. Many schools deactivate a user just at the home school and not anywhere else which would add many people who were formerly not on the call list to be added back in. Because of this we can not simply change the logic to allow for this scenario without giving each school a way to choose if they want to count them or not.

Over time the queries will get updates to allow for this as well and an option to allow schools to decide if they want those users to count as active or not.
