How to Change the Caller ID
Many times, the people you are contacting won't listen to your message and instead hang up and call back the number that dialed them, resulting in your office getting bombarded with call backs. To prevent this behavior, you can set the caller ID phone number to BrightArrow's 855 number, (855)994-4242. With this number set as your default, your office will not receive call-backs.
Alternatively, the people you are contacting may ignore your call if it's coming from a phone number they don't recognize, resulting in your constituents potentially missing out on an important message. So that your contacts can easily recognize the phone number that is calling them, you can set your office phone number as the caller ID number.
BrightArrow has a remedy for either scenario that can be applied globally or to a specific list.
How to change the caller ID phone number for all lists
If your organization would like to set or change the caller ID number to make it the default for all lists, that can be done by the primary admin user. The default phone number to appear in your recipients' caller ID can be set up to be the default number for the whole organization or for specific groups.
With the default phone number set up, message senders will still be able to change the outgoing phone number in specific lists and messages if they choose to.
Setting the default phone number for the entire organization
- As the primary admin user, select the “User Accounts” from the BrightArrow Central home screen. If you do not have a User Accounts button, you are not logged in as the primary account. Please contact us for assistance.
- Select the primary group by clicking on the pencil or on the name directly.
- In the box labeled “Outbound Caller ID” change it to the phone number you want recipients to see when your organization calls. If you want to ensure call-backs to your organization are limited, set it to BrightArrow's phone number, 855-994-4242.
- At the bottom of the page, click OK.

All new lists will now use this phone number by default. Lists that have already had a different number added will not be changed, but existing lists that were left to use the default number will use this new default number.
Setting the default phone number for specific campuses, buildings, or individual BrightArrow users

How to change the caller ID phone number for a specific list
If your organization has set up a caller ID number globally, you may want to change it for a particular message that you're sending out or have a different caller ID number as the default for a specific list. In this scenario, you won't want to change the global setting in case other people in your organization are relying on the global setting when they send their messages.
For example, if your organization has the "default" caller ID number listed as the main campus phone number, but messages that you send from your off-campus lists should appear as they are coming directly from your office, you will want to change the caller ID number for your specific lists.
In another example, if your school district has the "default" caller ID number listed as the district office's phone number, but you want to make sure messages sent from the High School's secretary show as if they are coming from the High School's office, you will want to change the caller ID number for the High School's secretary's lists.
- Navigate to your list and click List Settings.
- Click on the Phone Call Settings tab on the left.
- In the first box, enter your preferred Caller ID phone number.
- Note that the caller ID phone number entered here will only apply to the specific list(s) you change it for. All other lists will use the phone number that is set as a global setting.
- If you are changing the phone number to prevent call-backs to your office, enter 855-994-4242.
- If you are changing the phone number so that your office number shows on your recipients' phones when you call, use your preferred phone number.
- Once you've entered your preferred caller ID number, use the double back arrows in the upper left of the page to save your changes.

All calls made to this list will now use this phone number.
