Emailing a document created in Google Docs
Embed a document created in Google Docs, especially one containing images and special formatting, into BrightArrow
Option 1. Fastest, but will not always preserve the exact formatting. Requires the BrightView release of 2023 (or later).
(In Google Docs)
A. With your Google Doc file open, click on View, and uncheck Show print layout.
B. Within the Google Doc file, Select All and Copy.
(In BrightArrow)
C. From the BrightView Email Edit page, paste in from your clipboard.
Option 2. Reliably emails the exact content (using the HTML standard) as laid out in Google Docs. Works on legacy BrightArrow or BrightView.
(In Google Docs)
A. With your Google Doc file open, click on View, and uncheck Show print layout.
B. Click on File → Email → Email this file.
C. Enter your email address, choose File type as HTML, and click Send.
(In your email program)
D. Open your email, and open the attached HTML file in your browser.
(In your browser)
E. Right click in that HTML page and choose the menu item View page source (different browsers may name it slightly differently.
F. When viewing the HTML code, Select All, Copy. The HTML code is now in your clipboard.
(In BrightArrow)
G. In the BrightArrow Email Edit page ("Edit HTML Email" from the Create Message page), click on the Source button (the top-left button in the rows of tools), paste what is in your clipboard (make sure to replace any prior content there), and then click on the Source button again to view it.
At this point your email should contain the entire contents of your Google doc. Note that you can use that technique for any content creator that you can send as HTML (such as MailChimp).
