How to Set a Contact to Receive Emergency Messages Only
If you have a contact who only wants to receive messages when it's a true emergency, you can designate that setting for their phone number and/or email address in the Do Not Contact list. With the setting in place, BrightArrow will only send them messages that have been marked as "emergency" so you don't have to worry about excluding them from your lists for non-emergency messages.
Adding the message recipient to the Do Not Contact list as an "emergencies-only" contact
- From the BrightArrow Central home screen, click the hamburger menu (3 horizontal lines) in the upper left.
- Select "Do Not Contact List/Time."
- Make sure the "Only Emergency Messages" radio dial is selected.
- Enter the phone number or email address for the message recipient. If you need to add a phone number and an email address for the contact, enter them separately.
- Click "Add."
- Once the phone number or email address has been added to the Do Not Contact list, you will see it listed in the column on the left with "Send Emer Only" next to it to indicate that they will now only receive emergency messages to that phone number or email address.
- Repeat steps 3 - 5 for each additional phone number or email address.
- Use the double-back arrows in the upper left to save your changes and return to the previous screen.
How to mark the message as "emergency"
With your contact now added to the Do Not Contact list as receiving only emergency messages, the message must be marked as "Emergency" priority in order for the contact to receive it. Contacts with the "Only Emergency Messages" setting in the Do Not Contact list will not receive messages that have the "Informational" priority level. They will ONLY receive messages if the "Emergency" priority is marked when the message is created.
- From the My Lists page, start creating your new message or editing your existing message.
- On the first page of the message creation under "Message Priority," make sure the "Emergency" radio dial is selected.
- With the Emergency radio dial selected, when you send your message it will now go out to any contacts within the list who have the "Only Emergency Messages" setting added for them in the Do Not Contact list.
